Another promising Friday practice with Dan placing 2nd and 4th raised hopes for a good weekend. Unfortunately brake issues during qualifying meant that he only qualified 15th and 17th.
Race one had an exciting start with two cars on Dan’s side stalling on the grid. Those behind were boxed in and Dan lost two or three places on the run down to the first turn. Undeterred, he fought back through to 11th but a mistake in the closing stages dropped him back to 13th.
Race two saw the heavens open and after a good start Dan struggled with the conditions and brought the car home in 16th place.
Comments from Dan:
“What a frustrating weekend, we knew we had the pace and it was disappointing not to be able to show it in qualifying. Race one had some good moments but wasn’t the result we wanted. I qualified in the middle of a group of Dutch racers which meant that I had a lot of work to do before I even started racing for points in the British Championship. I was hoping for rain in race two, to mix things up a bit but in the end we got rather more than I had in mind! I was struggling with oversteer for most of the race and couldn’t get into a good rhythm. The next race is at Castle Combe which is about as close as I get to a home race so should be a good one.”
